A journey of dedication, milestones, and leadership in pediatric dental care.

The Philippine Pediatric Dental Society, Inc. (PPDSI) had its beginnings as a collaborative undertaking of a team of general dentists and Pediatric Dentistry specialists whose goal is in the advancement of quality pediatric dentistry as it serves the Filipino people. It is a non-stock, non-profit organization registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission and is recognized as the pediatric dentistry group affiliate of the Philippine Dental Association. Through the years, the PPDSI was able to establish affiliations with different national and international professional organizations – it is a founding member society of the Pediatric Dentistry Association of Asia (PDAA) and a member society of the International Association of Pediatric Dentistry (IAPD). In January 2011, it was granted accreditation by the Board of Dentistry of the Philippine Regulation Commission as the specialty group in the field of pediatric dentistry in the country. The PPDSI is nationally identified as the leader in the oral health care of children and adolescents and the mentally, physically, and emotionally-challenged patients.
The Society has three major thrusts: SERVICE, TRAINING, and RESEARCH. At its first home at the Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC), its founding team of dentists established the Pediatric Dentistry Division – the first hospital-based pediatric dental facility in the country. During its five years at PCMC, it offered a comprehensive oral care program for children and special needs patients. In the area of training, its highly qualified team of dentists offered a six-month training program and a continuing dental education program on Pediatric Dentistry for general practitioners.
PPDSI found a new home and established the first Pediatric Dentistry Center in the country at the Children’s Medical Center, Philippines (now known as the Dr. Fe del Mundo Medical Center), the oldest hospital institution specializing in children’s care. This venture is jointly operated by the Philippine Dentist Development Cooperative whose original unity of purpose and professional teamwork continues its commitment to service, training, and research in the field of Pediatric Dentistry.
The strong bond among its members and dedication to its ideals has brought PPDSI through years of joy and turmoil and continues to carry the society to the forefront of Philippine dentistry in the present times.
